Mary has been practicing law for over thirty years and now concentrates her practice in the areas of municipal law, business law and probate law. In these three practice areas she addresses real estate issues, contract drafting, and document review for legal compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations. These areas of law require a focus on client interaction, understanding the client’s needs and assisting with the legal aspects of completing the task at hand. Mary is trustworthy, dedicated, and knows exactly what it takes to help you with your legal issues.

Representing several Massachusetts water districts in Middlesex and Worcester counties, Mary is experienced in municipal real estate issues, including conveying and leasing real property and eminent domain proceedings. Compliance with open meeting and public records laws, municipal procurement, public bidding and contract requirements, are examples of areas of experience. Mary works hard for her clients to ensure a favorable outcome and is able to engage with other municipal counsel and private counsel to seek resolution of conflicts.

Bringing the same passion and depth of knowledge to business law, Mary represents several local businesses. Whether you are starting or buying a new business, closing or selling an existing business or need legal advice in addressing the fact specific business issues that arise while operating, Mary strives to provide practical legal solutions. The goal of legal representation is successful completion of the transaction or resolution of the problem to the client’s satisfaction.

While Mary leaves the sophisticated estate planning to Attorney Laurence Boisvert, she is well versed in the creation of wills and accompanying documents. Probate law and requirements are also an area of experience.

Community & Professional Involvement

Since its inception as a non-profit corporation, Mary has been a board member, legal counsel and volunteer for the longtime mission of Barbara and Ira Smith, Household Goods, Inc. in Acton. This beloved and much supported local non-profit simply helps people make a home by providing them with the furnishings they need at no cost. www.Householdgoods.org For over 20 years, Mary has been actively involved the Massachusetts Bar Association’s High School Mock Trial program as a mock trial judge and as a member and former chair of the MBA’s Mock Trial Committee.

Personal

Now a resident of Northborough, Mary resided in Acton for 20 years and has three children who are proud McCarthy Towne, R.J. Grey Junior High School and Acton-Boxborough Regional High School graduates. Mary has many fond memories, of baseball, soccer, football, track and field, wrestling, gymnastics and field hockey, as well as the many choir and madrigal performances, plays, along with science and art exhibits. Mary is pleased to have her office back in Acton (formerly associated with Wilson & Orcutt) after several years in Concord center, where she was of counsel to McWalter, Barron & Boisvert, LP.
